Danna K. Erck's Obituary
Our beloved Mom and “Gram”, Danna Kleck Erck, went to rest with the Lord peacefully with family at her side on June 14, 2011, at the age of 91. She was born in Houston, Texas, on March 10, 1920, and resided most of her beautiful life in her Big D. Dedicated to caring for her children, Danna proudly worked unselfishly, often two jobs at once, sustained by her faith and the power of prayer. She worked as an executive assistant primarily in the oil and gas industry for over a half of a century. Her son-in-law, Bruce Lescalleet, was blessed to enjoy her expertise, as she concluded her career as his assistant for 7 years. Danna is preceded in death by her husbands, Col. William J. Erck, USAF (Ret.) and James M. Smith. Danna’s greatest treasures were her family and their many traditions. She was adored and loved by her family, friends, and every animal she ever met. She is survived by two daughters, Julie Erck Brooks and husband David of Dallas, Cheryl Smith Lescalleet and husband Bruce of Plano; two sons, Doug Erck of Mechanicsville, VA, and Craig Smith of Duncanville; nine grandchildren, Cristin Lescalleet Douthitt and husband, Andy, Adam Lescalleet, Ryan Lescalleet, Jenna Brooks, Jordan Brooks, Christopher Erck, Sarah Erck, Natalie Smith Strawser and husband, Scott, and David Smith; and four great grandchildren. The family expresses its love and gratitude to her dear friend, John Todd, for his love, support and caregiving to Danna over the past three years. The family also expresses its appreciation to the Highland Park United Methodist Church Pastoral Care for their love of Danna. A Celebration of Life will be conducted by Rev. Bill Smith on Friday, June 17, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday, June 17, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm. at Restland Funeral Home.
