Daphine House Johnson's Obituary
Daphine House Johnson, 86, passed away June 9, 2020. She was born September 18, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents Mable Ann Hardman and Adolphus George House. She married Ellis Lorenzo Johnson, Jr. in Salt Lake City, Utah; and had three daughters, Cheryl, Debra (Debbie), and Gwendolyn. Daphine will forever be remembered for her feisty spirit, but self-less and generous heart. She had a deep love for her entire family; and was a caretaker of all, especially for her daughter Debbie, who continued to be under her care for her entire life. Family members and friends will deeply miss Daphine’s contagious laugh and sparkling smile. Daphine was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Wanda House, Evelyn Stokes, and Nola Leavitt; brother David House, and beloved husband of more than thirty years, Ellis Johnson, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Lorna Snow; daughters Cheryl Johnson Moore, Debra Ann Johnson, Gwendolyn Johnson McAlister (husband Michael McAlister); grandchildren Jeanette Murray (husband Avery Murray), James Moore, and Trevor McAlister; great-grandchildren Aila, Aralynn, and Aryton; many nieces and nephews; as well as her companion dog, Delilah. Her daughter Debbie, and dog Delilah will continue to be cared for by the family.
Daphine will be laid to rest next to her husband in a graveside service at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, to be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at 10:30 am. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service will be limited to immediate family members only.
