Darla Marie Gomez's Obituary
Darla was born in Dallas, Texas on October 30,1938. She was raised in Big Sandy, Texas by parents Dean and Jewell McGee. She worked for Texas Instruments / Raytheon Defense Dept. in Group Inventory Control to ensure all the high dollar inventory matched the quantity in the system with the actual stock for complete accuracy. Darla retired with over 30 years of dedicated service. She and Rudy also met at Texas instruments in 1983, and they married a few years later & have been together for 43 years.
Darla enjoyed going out to family events, birthday celebrations, holidays, both on her side of the family and Rudy's side of the family. She loved the great meals and desserts prepared by his Grandmother Concha, Aunt Patsy & Uncle Lazaro and by his parents at each visit. She fell in love with her son-in-law's BBQ ribs that Ish prepared during his cookouts.
Darla was always thrilled when there were sporting events to go to. She loved watching the grandkids playing football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, even coming home at 2:30 a.m. in the morning from their rodeo events, like bull riding and team calf roping, & mud truck racing. She loved to watch them compete and not get hurt. Darla also enjoyed relaxing at home with Rudy watching the Dallas Cowboys play and the Texas Longhorn football games. Darla is better known as Mamaw by her family. Rudy told everyone to buy stock in M&M's & Dr. Pepper because he never saw Mamaw without them in her hands or close by her.
Darla passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Allen Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bob Watson and nephew CD Watson and mother in-law Josephine Gomez.
