Darrell Dean Fahler, A.I.A's Obituary
Born December 31st, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and died peacefully September 4th, 2018 in McKinney, Texas at 88 years old. He was raised in Tulsa and graduated from Will Rodgers High School. He attended Oklahoma State University where he met and married Bette Hefley. Shortly after he served honorably in the United States Airforce before moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico and ultimately settled in Richardson, Texas where he lived out the majority of his life.Darrell was also a reputable commercial architect mostly in the Dallas area. He worked for the Harwood K. Smith Architectural Firm and eventually ran his own firm; Metroplan, then Darrell D. Fahler Architects. After retirement Darrell became a stained glass artist and took time to enjoy his grandchildren.Being the last of his generation, Darrell was predeceased by his mother, Beulah Layton Fahler and his father, Floyd J. Fahler as well as his brother Bill Fahler.He is survived by his son Dr. Jeff Fahler, D.D.S. and daughter in-law Dr. Brenda Riels, D.D.S. Also his daughter Kimberly Fahler Silva and son-in-law Ed Silva . He has four grandchildren: Kelsey Fahler, Jacob Fahler, Daniel Silva & Sargent Darrell Silva, USMC. In addition he has two great grandchildren: Lillian Silva and Elijah Silva. And lastly Darrell is survived by a sister-in-law Connie Fahler and nephews: Bradley, Cass, Tim & Curtis.Darrell lived the last 6 years of his life riddled with alzheimers however he enjoyed the time he spent at Villagio Memory Care under the watchful care of Heart to Heart Hospice.
