Darrell Glenn Iselt's Obituary
March 17, 1965 he weighed in at 3lb. 9oz. To know him was to love him. He graced our lives with his love in person until June 1, 2026. We hope to carry on his love and kindness for the rest of our lives.
Darrell graduated from Plano High School in 1983. He worked for his Dad’s family business most of his teen and adult years.
He married our childhood friend, Cindy Schnieder, in 1994. They were married until 2007. He cherished his years as a step-dad to Nikkie and Nathan. He remained in contact with all 3 of them, and held a great fondness in his heart. He was grateful for their continued friendship.
He had a lifelong love of fishing, hunting, gardening, and attending family gatherings. Nobody will ever be able to yell Touchdown at football games like DD. He was the heart of the family.
He was baptized in 2019 with his nephew Brian. It was a beautiful day for them both to publicly express their faith in Christ.
In later years he was plagued by multiple health issues. He endured multiple surgeries, and hospitalization and procedures with positivity and even tried to make them fun. He amazed us all with his non wavering hope and faith in getting a kidney transplant.
He traveled through life with his favorite nickname “DD” given to him by his niece Jennifer. She was probably two years old and could not say Darrell – so he became our DD. He was also known by his friends as “Big D” and “Brother.”
Darrell is survived by his mother, Betty; his sister, Gwen; his "as close as a brother" brother-in-law, Kerry; niece, Autumn; nephew, Brian and his wife Miranda; three great nieces: Ashton, Audra, and Madison; one great nephew, Aidan; as well as cousins, aunts, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his dad, Norris; older brother, Doug; and his niece, Jennifer.
Also surviving him are his lifelong friends: Terry, Todd, Paul, and Chris. Terry – your willingness to be a live donor means more than words can express.
Special thanks to Dr. Bonnett who took on his health challenges with kindness and care, as well as to UTSW Transplant Division. Also, DaVita Dialysis for all of the love and kindness over his years of treatment. Everyone there held a very special place in his heart. Thank you Arlene for the kind words – “Everyone there loved him – staff and patients. He had a huge heart and he will be terribly missed.”
Darrell will always be remembered for his kindness, love, and everything that embodied the fruits of the spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness.
If you are not currently an organ donor, please consider being one. Darrell’s legacy of love and giving to others was amazing. He was a huge supporter of organ donation. Many lives have been and will be saved by giving.
The family thanks everyone for their kind expression of love and condolences.
Open on Darrell’s kitchen tables are words he lived by:
Ephesians 4: 25-32
“Be Kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.”
