Darrell Legband's Obituary
Darrell Legband, age 87, of Richardson Texas died Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Brookdale Collin Oaks. Darrell was born October 3, 1938 to Arthur and Helena (Borgelt) Legband. He was raised on the family farm outside of Snyder Nebraska, the youngest of 14, and attended St. Peter's Lutheran School. He married Loretta Kuss on April 20, 1958 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hooper and had been happily married 67 years at the time of her passing last year. Darrell was active in the business communities wherever they lived. He moved his family to Oregon and back to Nebraska from various towns a number of times - including Fremont, Bellevue, and Norfork in Nebraska, and Eugene, Florence, and Grants Pass in Oregon, finally retiring in Texas with Loretta, near his two sons. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Plano and was active in the church.
After starting his career as a bank teller, Darrell became a commercial loan officer, branch manager and ultimately a Vice President. Darrell had been active in the Nebraska Jaycees and the National Jaycees, holding the position of President of the Nebraska Jaycees. He continued to be active in the Lutheran Churches in the towns where they lived, as well as the Rotary Clubs, always connecting with the business community. He made many friends in both Oregon and Nebraska. He especially enjoyed the Oregon coast and the fresh air in the mountains. Darrell loved his 1952 Ford Crestline Sunliner and was featured in many small town parades. Darrell loved his family activities as well. Yearly he took his wife and kids on two week vacations which were filled with adventures, reaching from Florida to California, and everything in between. Usually with theme parks and a Jaycee convention mixed in. After his three children grew up and married, he and Loretta enjoyed visiting and enjoying his grandkids and in recent years, his great-grandkids.
