Darrell Dean Willson's Obituary
Darrell Dean Willson, a longtime resident of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the age of 84.
Darrell was born January 10, 1939 in Versailles, Missouri. After he graduated from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as military police at various missile bases. He served 3 years active duty and 23 years in the reserves obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant. Darrell graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science Education Degree and also a Master of Education Degree. During his professional career, he was an English teacher for many years. He also worked as a national sales manager for Macmillan Publishers and a sales manager for Walraven Book Cover and went on to own a successful lawn and landscape company in Richardson, Texas until he retired.
Darrell was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his true joy in life was sitting in the sunroom with his wife and dog, Fluffy, watching the birds and squirrels. He was a longtime devoted member of The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas.
Darrell is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Burlene Willson; his daughter, Stephanie Wilder; his son, Spencer Willson and wife Krishana; and daughter, Stacia Willson; sisters Charlene Nickolaus and Connie Willson. He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Ruth Willson.
Visitation for Mr. Darrell Dean Willson will be Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be Friday, June 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Restland Memorial Park.
