Officer Darron Lee Burks' Obituary
In loving memory of Darron Lee Burks, his unwavering faith in God was the guiding force in his life, and his love for his mother knew no bounds. A loving and devoted son, whose heart overflowed with love and compassion for his family, his police family and the community. Darron found immense joy in the company of his loved ones, cherishing every moment spent together. His laughter echoed in family gatherings, creating cherished memories that will forever linger in every heart. He was a living Epistle (2 Corinthians 3:2-3) and it was demonstrated and in his daily walk.
Darron was born on August 8, 1978, from the union of the late Lee Otis Burks and Cherie Ann Burks Jeffrey in Little Rock, AR. He accepted Christ at the age of 9 and united with New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Dallas, TX, where his parents were Deacon and Deaconess. He served in Sunday School and was a choir member. At the time of his passing, he was a dedicated member at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, TX under Senior Pastor Tony Evans. Where he served as part of the Parking Lot Ministry. He occasionally fellowshipped with his mother at The Complete Armor of God International Ministry to the Nation under the leadership of Apostle Tyrone Howell.
Growing up in Dallas, TX, Darrion was active in various sports growing up with little league football, bowling league, and soccer. Even as a young boy he was into fitness and working out, which became a big part of his lifestyle
Darron attended Forest Meadow Junior High School and graduated from Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, TX where he participated in football, basketball and track. He attended and graduated from Paul Quinn College in Dallas, TX where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Degree. He also joined the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, where he loved his brothers dearly. After graduating from school, he was employed with Texas CAN Academy in Dallas, TX for 18 years as an educator of mathematics where he was under the guidance of Principal Mene Khepera.
After much prayer he decided to change his career, and he accepted the call to the Dallas Police Department. He encouraged himself through the vigorous and tedious training of the academy and graduated from the Police Academy December 15, 2023.
He received his assignment to the South-Central Station in Dallas, TX where he served until his untimely passing on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at “time”
Darron Lee Burks transitioned from this earthly body into eternity uniting with his late father Lee Otis Burks who proceed him in death.
