Darween Sorrow McPeak's Obituary
Darween Sorrow McPeak, 79, of Wolfe City Texas, passed away on Saturday February 3, 2018 in Garland Texas after her courageous battle with lung cancer. Surrounded by her loving family in the comforts of home.Darween was from Wolfe City Texas and born a twin to Lloyd and Emma Sorrow on May 1, 1938. “Dar” grew up in Wolfe City Texas where she sang in the church choir, played basketball and cheered the Wolves on the football field. She would often reminisce about those days of picking cotton with her Momma and her “twin” sister “Nar”. She married Kenneth Martin McPeak in 1964 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage. Darween worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Raytheon where she retired at age 55. Following retirement her and “Mac” owned and operated Jackson Hewitt Tax Service for several years.Darween is preceded in death by Kenneth Martin McPeak, Parents: Emma Sorrow, Lloyd Sorrow, Sisters: Charlene Wright, Marie Leslie, Faye Dunson, Gladys Dudley, Jimmie Garrett, Laura Mae Higgins, Brothers: Gorge Sorrow, James Sorrow, Charles Sorrow and Grandson Mark Allan Sheffler.Darween had a deep love for tradition, being from a large family, traditions where important to her. She was surrounded by friends and loved to laugh. Her favorite thing was coffee, she always had a fresh pot brewing. She could make the best cornbread dressing in this world.Darween is survived by her Children: Debbie (Mike) Sheffler, Kendra (Mando) Lara: Step Son: Duane (Michelle) McPeak, Step Daughter Dawan Mazzu, Twin Sister, Narween Blackwell: Grand Children, Brandon (Britney) Sheffler, Greg Sheffler, Phillip (CJ) Sheffler, Lauren McPeak, Monica Lara, Tristan and Caden Mazzu, Madison and Peyton McPeak. Great Grand Children: Cayden, Colton, Kiptyn, and Kennedy Sheffler. Many nieces and nephews and close family friends.Motherrrrrrr, Love you MORE………Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home.Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday February 6, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Dan Jones of First Christian Church, officiating. Coffee Fellowship will follow the service.In lieu of flowers please consider donating to MD Anderson Cancer Center Camp A.O.K. in honor of her Grandson Mark Allan Sheffler.
