Obituary Robins, Darwyn (Col., U.S. Army, ret.) Darwyn Robins, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away at the age of 92. He died on July 7, 2012 in his apartment at Monticello West, his residence for the past nine years. After graduating from Texas A&M in 1939, Darwyn served for twenty years in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Colonel. After retiring from the military in 1969, Darwyn moved back to Dallas and began his second career as a Residential Inspector in his own company, Robins Building Inspection. Fifteen years later, he closed that business, and REALLY retired to bowl, play tennis and bridge, dabble in the stock market, and travel with the “Love of his Life” his wife of 63 years, Miss Kitty. In 2003, Darwyn and Kitty moved to Monticello West, a retirement community. There they enjoyed the company of the many wonderful residents and the personal care and attention from the employees there. It was the final chapter of an exceptional life of travel and experiences around the world for both of them. Kitty passed away in 2005 and Darwyn has missed her terribly. Now they are reunited and at peace. They lead a very blessed life and always shared their blessings with their friends and family. Darwyn will be most remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, warm smile, and caring, loving manner. Born Darwyn Rabinowitz, on August 11, 1919 in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn “Kitty” Robins, his father, Ben Rabinowitz, his mother, Rebecca Margules Robinson, his sister, Claire Benno, and his brother-in-law, Gene Rosen. He is survived by his only daughter, Emily Robins, his son-in-law, Jim Conrad, his sister, Shirley Robins Rosen, and many nephews and nieces. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM graveside at Restland Memorial Park with full military honors. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
