I did not personally know David, but working on Ancestry and found that he is actually related to me from a long line of Bentons. His father, Don's dad Harlon Vineyard Benton is the son of John Stephen "Steve" Benton, whom is my grandfather's older brother. Always sad to discover the loss of a young man to any family!
