Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. also at Restland Cemetery, Memorial Chapel, Dallas, TX. A Masonic gravesite service will follow at Restland Cemetery.David, (or as some of his friends called him Dave or “Super Dave”) was born in Farmersville, TX on February 8, 1936. He graduated from Central High School in Muskogee, OK in 1954 where he met his wife of 62 years, J. Kay Carlton.David began his career as a precision machinist where he built the first artificial heart that operated outside the human body. After many years in the underground utility business with Dowdy Anderson & Associates, he most recently was a utility inspector for the City of Hackberry. There was nothing that David couldn’t fix. You could always find him at a neighbor’s house under the sink fixing a leak, across the pasture repairing a fence, mowing on his John Deere or working on something at the deer lease. Although he didn’t get to go often enough, David was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. David’s big debate is how you should ONLY use a fork to make country gravy – not with a spoon and certainly not with a whisk.David was a member of the Masonic Lodge #502, Muskogee, OK; Hella Shrine Temple, Dallas, TX; Scottish Rite, Dallas, TX; Order of the Eastern Star #935, Lewisville, TX. He was active for many years with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 65, Denton, TX.He is preceded in death by his mother Corene Elizabeth (Herron) Carlton, Father Jessie Armo Carlton, Sister Jessie Ann Brown, all of Muskogee, OK.It was obvious that David loved his family with all his heart. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, J. Kay Carlton; son, Monty Carlton and wife, Edie of Valley View, TX; daughter, Kathy (Carlton) Morales and husband, Tim of Baytown, TX; son, Charles (Chip) Carlton of Flower Mound, TX. He is also survived by his sister, Alice Jo Stoll of Muskogee, OK. Brother in law & sister in law Michael & Deena McLarty of Corinth, TX. His grandchildren, Chelsea Carlton, Shannon Waterhouse, Darl Waterhouse, Dean Haddock, Randi Richards & Carlie Carlton, 8 great grandchildren, nieces & nephews and a host of friends whom he considered his extended family.David’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Argyle and Bartonville first responders, and the special nurses and doctors who cared for David at Medical City Hospital, Denton. Your love and care for David will never be forgotten.
