David Alan Clowers' Obituary
Upon Thursday’s turn, David Clowers passed away in Dallas, Texas on January 29. Dave, 65, was born in Harlan, Kentucky on October 28, 1949. Not possessing much in the way of material things, Warren and Euna raised Dave strong through their tireless ethic and tender support. Leaving Harlan and the mine behind, Dave’s family moved to Peoria, Illinois; there, through the support and compassion of his family, Dave learned the lessons of hard work and compassion that always accompanied him in both his professional and personal pursuits. Drafted by the Army, Dave served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. Dave found his way back to school, where he studied to be a structural engineer. With diligence and dedication, Dave built a long and fruitful career in construction. An early achievement came by way of an expansion of O’Hare International Airport. Dave worked in Chicago during the week over the many grueling months, struggling to find peace with such a distance from his young family in Dallas. But every weekend he rushed home, soaking in the few precious moments with his loving wife and two young children. Over the course of his career, Dave was an integral leader in many organizations, founder of several businesses, and instrumental in many notable projects. One of his fondest contributions was leading the efforts to design and erect the Superconducting Super Collider particle accelerator in Waxahachie, Texas. The many friends, family, peers and colleagues are far too numerous name, but none are too distant to grieve the loss of Dave. There was nary a one that Dave did not accept – and fewer yet that he would not invite into his home and heart. Dave was caring, he was loving, and he was sweet. Dave’s love and covenant with Kathleen knew more than forty-four strong years, and together they brought forth and up two beautiful children. The challenges of fatherhood, the labors he and Kathleen endured, the triumphs and missteps of parenthood – this was Dave at his finest, and it was as a father that Dave found his calling. Mourning with his wife, Kathleen is Laura, Dave’s daughter and his first fatherly love, and Eric, his baby boy and his best friend. They are comforted by their own families, Dave’s grandchildren Taylor and Elisa, and his daughter-in-law Alicia. The family welcomes you to David’ s services, which are being held at 3 P.M. Friday, February 6, in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
