David W. "Dave" Lane Jr.'s Obituary
LANE, JR., DAVID W. “DAVE” Departed this earth from the arms of his loving family into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 3, 2011. He was born in Bon Weir, TX to David W. and Edna Lane on October 17, 1933. He graduated from Newton High School with honors and then attended Texas A & M University as a distinguished student, served on the Student Senate, was Chairman of the Election Commission and commander of the Eighth Group. Upon graduation, Dave was hired by IBM. He served out his commitment with the US Air Force and was honorably discharged. Dave returned to IBM in 1956 and served as an account representative, in such places as Washington, DC, Frankfurt, Germany and NASA at Houston before being promoted to Dallas as sales rep for AAFES. He ended his career servicing SWBT, AT&T, and the Federal Reserve Bank. He retired in 1988 and joined his wife, Billie, in their Shaklee business. Before Dave’s illness, Dave and Billie were very active in the Christian community and were active members of the Brookhaven Church in Dallas. He is survived by his wife of almost fifty eight years, Billie Cecil Lane; daughter, Sharon Lea Lane, daughter and son in law, Mindy and Brent Barker; son and daughter in law, David “Winn” Lane, III and Cindy; grandchildren, Bram Barker, Braely Barker, and Landon Barker Council and husband, Chez Council of New Braunfels, TX; and great grandchild, Shane Michael Council. The family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday, December 6th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Restland Funeral Home and services will be held on Wednesday, December 7th at 11:00am at Brookhaven Church, 13000 Marsh Lane in Dallas. Burial will be at DFW National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make your donations to The Texas Baptist Men or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
