David Christopher Graham's Obituary
David Christopher, whose name means, beloved bearer of Christ, was born with an iron will which served him well. In church preschool he was described as being “wound a little tighter than most.” His impulsiveness and high energy as a child brought many challenges, rules like “Don’t bleed on the carpet.”, and questions like “Is the 6th ER visit free? He loved to play soccer into his adult life until benched by a knee injury that plagued him the rest of his life. He was in scouting and on neighborhood swim team. He loved roller- blades and spent hours exploring the nearby creek with his brothers and friends. Diagnosed with dyslexia, he benefited greatly from two and a half years at the Scottish Rite dyslexia lab. Although he mastered reading, audio books became his constant companion. He was in church all his life and became a Christian at a young age. He provided child care for his small church as a teen. He was always willing to share his faith in his actions as well as words. He graduated home school, at the top of his class, of course. He entered the working world with energy and dedication to doing things well. He worked for an auto mechanic, auto body shop, home remodeler and furniture builder. He loved working with his hands and learning new skills. He was forced to take an extended time off due to multiple surgeries on both knees. After a brief stint working at Restland Funeral Home he was currently working with his father in creating a family handyman business. We enjoyed his living at home his whole life. He was not bound by convention and was a master at creating the wrong impression, intentionally. Given his love of knives, swords, guns, fires, power tools and explosions, he shocked us all by dying quietly in his bed. David never met a stranger. He knew how to enjoy life with the spirit of a child and had a sense of humor that often made us smile. He was loyal and forgiving to his friends. He made his mother feel adored. He brought joy to his father as they worked side by side. He had keen awareness of the importance of family, encouraging and appreciating togetherness. With a heart as big as Texas he would give time, money, his car, whatever he could to help. In the past few years he suffered pain, insomnia, frustration, and heartache, but was always able to say, “God is good.’ He lived up to the meaning of his name. We know he was not perfect. He will be greatly missed. We find great comfort in knowing he is at rest, feeling no pain and we will see him again some day. “The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21 The Memorial Service for David will take place at 2:30 pm on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, Attn: Developement Department, 2222 Welborn Steet, Dallas, TX 75219
