David Lindsey Griffin's Obituary
David Lindsey Griffin was born October 16, 1937, in Corpus Christi, TX. and died on June 22, 2023. He was the older son of Jay C. and Eilleen Lindsey Griffin. David graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1956, also attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and later graduated from Texas Christian University in 1961 where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. David studied acting at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City after moving to New York in 1965. He later earned a degree in social work at Hunter College in New York City and a Ph.D from Coastal California University and was a successful psychotherapist in New York for over twenty-five years. After retirement he moved back to Texas in 2005, lived in Beaumont briefly and then moved to Dallas in 2016. David was a proud member of Alcoholic Anonymous and had received his 50-year pin. David loved his family and was proud of them. He was an devoted Democrat and a member of the Disciples of Christ. His great, great Uncle Jesse Billingsley served in the Texas Army at San Jacinto, and his great-grandfather David Sudduth Lindsey served in Hood’s Texas Brigade in the Civil War.
David is survived by his brother Timothy Jay Griffin of Dallas, sister-in-law Donna Sabin Gove Griffin of Dallas, Marcella Griffin Whitney of Snyder, and Lindsey Griffin Davis and husband Judson Davis of Garland, plus many friends in Texas and New York. Memorials can be sent to First Christian Church in Corpus Christi, TX.
