David Harold Orr, age 79, was born to parents Harold Orr and Nell Rice in Birmingham, Alabama on August 29, 1938. He passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 4, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. David will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all who knew and loved him.By the age of 36, David had been awarded 14 Clios for television commercials (the equivalent of Academy Awards for Films), .St Place U. S. Television Commercial Festival in Chicago,1st Place: American Film Festival, 1st Place: Columbus Film Festival.,1st Place Atlanta Film Festival.3 World Best International Broadcasting Awards and many more awards. 1st prize at the Cannes Film Festival.David member of Director’s Guild of America, 50 years in motion picture industry, Worked in all phases of motion picture production with a particular emphasis in producing, directing, photography, editing, and writing. Produced over 3000 television commercials.From 1955 – 1959, David was nightclub performer, radio programming, art direction, animator and cartooning in Little Rock and would be discovered by Bruce Jamieson in Dallas. From 1960 – 1971, David was Executive Producer/Producer-Director for Jamieson Film Company in Dallas, responsible for several million dollars of live TV production annually. From 1971 – 2005, David was President/Producer/Director of David Orr Productions, Inc. David, Worked in Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, New York markets. David produced/directed celebrities in many TV commercials including Muhammed Ali, Cyd Charisse, Tony Martin, Football teams and stars including Don Meredith, Roger Staubach, Los Angeles Rams, and many other celebrities.He became ill before he was able to complete and produce comic books called the SYSTEM MASTERS, leaving scripts and beautiful artwork unfinished.In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make donations in memory of David to the Dallas Cat Lady at http://dallascatlady.org/donate/The family requests that visiting hours for Mr. Orr be observed from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, July 9, 2018 in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service for David Orr will follow at 10:00 AM on July 9, 2028 in the Wildwood Chapel. Graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Woodside Cemetery in Grand Saline, Texas.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
