David Craig Harrison's Obituary
David “Harri” Craig Harrison
David “Harri” Craig Harrison was born June 25, 1961, in Newfoundland, Canada. He was the oldest of three sons born to Dr. L. M. Harrison, Jr. and Glenda Lee Harrison where his father was serving in the U.S. Navy at the time. The family then moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where Harri grew up. His father taught him the importance of the love for family, and at a young age, a passion for horse racing that carried throughout his lifetime. Upon graduating First Baptist High School, he left for the University of Kentucky to attend college but soon found a calling to be a “Sooner” and transferred to the University of Oklahoma his sophomore year to join his brotherhood of Delta Tau Delta who were his lifelong friends. He graduated with a degree in Economics in 1985.
After leaving Oklahoma, Harri married Beverly Ballard at Park Cities Baptist Church in 1995. They soon moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career as a personal wealth advisor. It was there his son, Austin Lambert Harrison, was born on July 9, 1996. Austin was the love and greatest joy of his life. Soon after, they returned to Dallas to continue his career. Harri followed Austin through his basketball and baseball seasons traveling throughout North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. Harri was Austin’s unofficial photographer throughout his high school sporting career. It helped that he had been the student sports photographer during his time at the University of Oklahoma.
Harri enjoyed the company of family and friends. Over the years, he worked for Bear Stearns, Wells Fargo, BBVA Wealth Solutions and USAA. He also ventured into the hospitality business, acquiring partnership interests in a number of ventures, including the popular Katy Trail Ice House. He was the self-proclaimed “social media czar” for the Ice House. He was a joy to all that knew him. He passed away after a short illness peacefully surrounded by his closest family and friends at his bedside. He will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him. He was a wonderful man and a great father and dear friend to all who knew him!
Harri is survived by his son, Austin of Dallas; his brothers, Stephen Harrison of Utica, NY, and Patrick Harrison and his wife, Lee Ann, of Shreveport, LA; his nephew, Patrick Harrison, Jr., his niece, Carolyn Ann Harrison both of Shreveport; and his wonderful aunt and uncle, Patricia and William Senn of Baton Rouge, LA. Harri treasured all the trips to Baton Rouge to watch his beloved LSU Tigers football games. He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. L.M. Harrison Jr. and Glenda Lee Harrison.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 4:30 p.m. on June 3, 2025, at the Katy Trail Ice House for all of his friends and colleagues. The family welcomes all those who knew Harri to be there, tell wonderful stories about him, and most of all, remember the wonderful guy he was
