David Michael Johnson's Obituary
David Michael Johnson was born on November 13th of 1963 in Fort Carson, Colorado to Eugene Johnson and Wilhelmine Distel Johnson. Throughout his childhood spent in Virginia and California, he enjoyed being outside exploring, fishing, and camping. As the youngest of four children, David was a momma’s boy. He inherited his mother’s gentleness and loyalty.
As a young man, Dave loved rock ‘n’ roll, pick-up trucks, and Harley Davidson. Spending time with his beloved nieces, Kathy and Stephanie, kept Dave busy in California. His nieces describe their Uncle Dave as a jokester, with an infectious laugh and a knack for embarrassing them. He’d pick them up from school each day with his stereo booming, inching forward and laughing each time they’d try to open the truck door. Dave’s passion for shiny things, one that persisted lifelong, earned him the nickname “Diamond Dave”. He was always a lover of animals, with “Winston”, the German Shephard, and “Turbo”, the tortoise, just a couple of those lucky enough to be his best friends.
Dave began his education and early career as an electrician before moving to Texas in 1997 with his first wife, Sue. Later earning the distinction of Master Electrician, David founded an independent electrical company called D&S Electrical Solutions. Until his passing, Dave continued to work in electrical and solar trades, mentoring many young journeymen along the way. He was a hard-working and dedicated man in his work and in his relationships.
In 2012, David met Scarlett Louden, who would become his wife on July 4th of 2016 in Little Elm, Texas. Dave and Scarlett had a special relationship, bound by their common interests in casinos, concerts, and tropical vacations. They also shared a love for dogs, adopting a lab puppy, Sadie, in their early days together. Sadie quickly became Dave’s best girl, passing many evenings snuggling on the living room rug. Scarlett’s daughters, Emily and Lilly, were quickly adopted as Dave’s own. Dave was consistently supportive of the girls’ education, goals, and growth. “Girls need things”, Dave would say, as he sent the ladies out on a shopping trip so he could watch Sunday football. David was very independent, not one to follow suggestions, and especially not rules. When he was teaching Lilly to drive, he made sure she knew “you know why they make rules?” to which Lilly knew the answer: “so we can break them”. Dave was so proud of who the girls had become, and the girls will always be thankful for his devotion to their mother.
Dave and Scarlett loved each other deeply and tenderly. They shared a goal of retiring together in a lakefront home. In 2018, they moved to Wills Point, TX where they enjoyed fishing off the docks, loving their dogs, and watching beautiful Texas sunsets on their pontoon boat.
David passed away on October 27th of 2022 in Dallas, Texas.
He is preceded in passing by his parents Eugene Johnson and Wilhelmine Distel Johnson and his brother, Eugene.
David is survived by his devoted wife Scarlett, and stepdaughters, Emily and Lillian; sisters, Rita, Anita and husband, Michael; nieces, Katherine, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Carolyn, Aimee Jo; nephew, Jason; and many loving great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 5th, 2022 at Grace Baptist Church, 1209 E. Quinlan Pkwy, Quinlan, TX 75474
