David Lloyd Jordan's Obituary
We celebrate the life of David Lloyd Jordan, who was born on March 13th, 1942 in Newport News, Virginia and went home to be with His Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 23rd, 2015 in Richardson, Texas. David was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lucille Jordan and his first son, Gregory Brent, and he is survived by His wife of over 50 years, Sheila, by his sons Nathan and Seth Jordan and Nathan’s wife Rebecca, by his seven grandchildren, Nathaniel, Zachary, Michael, Ethan, Audrey, Lydia and Isabelle and by his great-grandson Greyson. David was a hard worker all his life. He graduated from Virginia Tech where he studied Engineering, and after serving with the Army Reserves he worked as a civil engineer before moving into sales, and he enjoyed golf, boating and travel with family and friends in his spare time. David was a dedicated servant of the church at First Baptist Church in Richardson, where he directed classes, chaired committees, served as a deacon and faithfully taught the Bible nearly every week for the last 37+ years, including the week just prior to his going home to be with the Lord. He was a deeply loving and committed husband, a genuine, generous and wise father, an adoring grandfather, and a loyal and deeply caring friend. He always made time to listen, to offer helpful guidance and to laugh with his family and friends. He loved to challenge others to be all that God made them to be, to strive for greater value in their marriages, families and careers, and he especially worked to champion the cause of missions in the church and personally traveled to Indonesia to pray for the lost and share the gospel. He wanted everyone to know the promise of Jesus that gave him hope: “Remain faithful, even when facing death, and I will give you the crown of life – an unending, glorious future.” -Revelation 2:10 For those who would like to, gifts may be made to the Missions Fund at First Baptist Church in Richardson, TX in his name. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Richardson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road.
