David Pek Wei Lao's Obituary
We regret to announce the loss of our beloved husband, father and brother, David PW Lao. He was born to the late Tien Triet Luu and Kim Nga Ma in Vietnam on September 23, 1948. He was the oldest of five children followed by his sister Helen La, brother Danny Lao, sister Ming Luu and sister Alice Lao Leung. His brother- and sister in-laws are Julia Lao and Le Leung. His family includes nieces and nephews Chia Hao La, Serena and Nathan Lao, Erick Luu, and Steven and Lucy Leung. His family also extends to his sister Helen’s two granddaughters, Jordan and Avery La.
David came to the U.S. in the 70’s seeking college education and opportunities to start a business. In New York City, he met Katherine Liu. The two married in 1977 and later moved to Texas in 1979.
Here in Texas, David started his first contract sewing factory which later advanced to a business in the importing and wholesale of women’s high end apparel. David always called himself an entrepreneur and loved going golfing with friends.
In 1997, David and Katherine adopted their first child, Fushien Tiffany Lao, when she was ten months old. Three years later, they adopted their second child, Yulsue Briana Lao, also at the age of ten months. David was a loving father to his girls, and he will be forever remembered by his daughters and his large, loving family.
In 2016, David was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and later developed brain cancer and heart conditions. Although his cancer was under control, he passed away due to congestive heart failure on August 21, 2022 at 8:41 a.m. in the Medical City Plano hospital. His body was later transported to:

The funeral service will be held on 9/17/2022 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Wildwood Chapel, with cremation immediately after 11 a.m..
