David Ray Nunn Sr. 's Obituary
David Ray Nunn Sr., age 88, of Garland, Texas passed away on February 18, 2020 in Rowlett, Texas of natural causes.
David Ray Nunn Sr. was born on March 7, 1931 in Bastrop, Texas to the parentage of: Roy and Brady Ellie (Kirk) Nunn. He married Mary Bell Wright on September 8, 1956 in Kerville, Texas and was an avid Texas Longhorn Football fan.
David served in the US Marine Corps as a Corporal and Machine Gunner. He faced heavy combat while fighting in the Korean War and nearly lost his leg to frostbite. Less than half of his company returned home. He was honorably discharged from the military in 1954 and went on to become a Line Service Technician for Garland Airport, Addison Airport and Dallas Lovefield for over 40 years.
David was also recognized as a Civilian Hero when he saved a pilot from a crashed burning helicopter. He also received a gold watch and was praised for his valor. He was a hero to us all.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Nunn of Garland, TX; daughters: Edith Macey of Garland, TX and Kimberly Scherer of Celeste, Texas; son, David Nunn Jr. of Garland, TX; sisters: Gladys Moye of San Antonio, TX, Lela Neidlinger of San Antonio, TX and Ella Mercer of Dothan, AL.; brother, Howard Gene Nunn of San Antonio, TX; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.
