David George Payne's Obituary
83, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born in Tucson, Arizona to James W. and Donna Mae Payne and grew up in Sherman and Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from Adamson High School. He served three years in the U.S. Army during WWII, in North Africa, Sicily and Italy, attaining the rank of sergeant. David graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. He pursued a career in accounting, working for the State Fair of Texas for several years and subsequently worked for more than thirty years with ARCO, retiring in 1985. David was a member of Casa Linda United Methodist Church for more than fifty years. He enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, outdoor sports and spoiling his grandchildren and great granddaughters, David is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Sue Payne; two sons, Ron and Mark; three grandchildren, Lori, Ron Jr., and Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Rachel, and Savannah; and sister Lurline Underwood. David was preceded in death by his brother J. Clark Payne, as well as his parent. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8pm at Restland. Services will be Tuesday at 1pm at Restlands Memorial Chapel.
