Although I hadn't seen David in over 30 years, I am sure he was the same thoughtful, generous, supportive person that he was all those years ago. David contacted me when my mother died about 2 years ago. It was such a gift to have stories about her that I didn't remember. You see, my mother was older and had long since survived most of her family and I am an only child. There are not many people in my life now that remember her from that time period. I know that David was crazy about his daughters, Dayna and Megan, and was so proud of them. He told me in an email that all the basketball and track meets he followed me to gave him practice for when he did that for Dayna. He was looking forward to retirement and having some property to "ranch" on– and probably hunt on. He was in FFA in high school–a regular Texas cowboy. I think that was his dream. He loved to hunt, even way back, and I understand he still did that regularly with his parents and Dayna. It is unbelievable that David has passed, such a young man. I'm sure this is devastating to his parents as well as his children. Maybe God needed him more than we did?
