David Frederick Robertson's Obituary
David passed away on September 7 after 98 years of faithful service to his Lord, his family, the community & his country. Born August 16, 1917 and raised in Indianapolis, he achieved the rank of Double Eagle Scout. He graduated from Earlham College where he met his love, June Griswold. Shortly after graduating college, the United States entered World War II, and David received an officer’s commission in the U.S. Navy. He served in numerous capacities throughout the war, including as the combat information officer aboard the USS Pennsylvania during the Battle of Attu, for which he was decorated. After the war, he was part of the U.S. force that occupied Japan. He spent his career at Texas Instruments. During that time, he served as President of the National Association of Accountants (Dallas Chapter) & as a National Board Member. A lifelong member of University Park United Methodist Church and the Mr. & Mrs. Class, he served in numerous leadership capacities and as an usher for more than 50 years. He was the Scoutmaster of Troop72, receiving the high honor of Silver Beaver for his 10 years of leadership service. He was preceded in death by June Robertson, his bride of 54 years. He is survived by his late in life love, Betty Jo Parks Robertson; his children David (Penny) Robertson, John (Shari) Robertson and Sue Ewing; his grandchildren Elaine (Brad) Tate, Brannon (Laura) Robertson, Tyler (Jessie) Ewing, Brenna Robertson, Clint Robertson and 5 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at University Park UMC on Thursday, September 10 at 2pm. Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master. (Matthew 25:23)
