David Rounds Schieffelin's Obituary
In Loving Memory of David Rounds Schieffelin
April 11, 1960 – April 25, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of David
Rounds Schieffelin, age 65, who left this world on April 25, 2025. David passed suddenly and
peacefully, after a vibrant life lived with profound kindness, unwavering devotion to his family,
and a quiet strength.
David was, above all else, a gentle man. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of thirty
years, Stacey, and an immensely proud father to their two daughters, Knox and Lou. David’s
world happily revolved around the three women he adored. His family was his greatest joy, and
he spent every day showing them the depth of his boundless love through his actions, his
words, and his constant presence.
A Harvard graduate, David carried his intelligence with humility and his accomplishments with
grace. He lived not to impress, but to uplift those around him. Even if he had little, David gave
freely of his time and his heart, and offered a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether it was a
neighbor, a friend, or a stranger, David saw every person as someone worthy of kindness and
respect.
Those who had the privilege of meeting David were forever touched by his presence. His warm
smile, quiet strength, and unwavering grace in the face of adversity left a profound and enduring
impression on all who crossed his path. In his final years, David embodied the spirit of true
friendship—never meeting a stranger, and joyfully seizing every opportunity to share the news
of his beloved first grandchild, Oliver. Of his many remarkable qualities, it was his steadfast
faith, resilient spirit, and boundless kindness that shone brightest and will be most deeply
remembered.
David is survived by his loving wife Stacey; his daughters Knox Schieffelin (Thornton) and Lou
Schieffelin; his son-in-law Case Thornton and grandson Oliver; his five siblings and stepmother
Maureen; his sister-in-law Tracey Stetler (Sanford) and husband Sean Sanford; his in-laws
Phylis and Ed Stetler; his daughter’s in-laws Terri and Joe B. Thornton; and so many loyal
friends. He also leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and joy that will live on in the
countless lives he inspired.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at The Wildwood
Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of
flowers, the family asks that donations please be made in David’s name to support real life child
rescues at www.jacobooyensministries.org.
David would do anything to be here and though our hearts ache with his absence, we take
immense comfort knowing that his loving soul lives on in eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. Under the tree of life, David will watch over us all and continue his endless good works in
Heaven.
