David Scoggins Jr.'s Obituary
Born December 12, 1936, in Dallas County Texas and passed away May 16, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. He was born and raised in Garland Texas. For the past 10 years, he has lived with his son, and best friend Daryl, in Talty, Texas. David was an Honored Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a loving Husband married to the love of his life Margie N. Ponder Scoggins for 51 years, and together they raised 3 beautiful children. Survivors include his children, Deborah K. Scoggins Helms, David Homer Scoggins III, and wife Patsy, Daryl G. Scoggins and William “Trell” Carter; Grandchildren, David Lee Scoggins, Chris and Brad Helms, and Marthae Torres Nicholas; Great-Grandchildren, Hazuiel Scoggins, Christian Helms, Aaron Helms, Bryson Helms, & Paisley Helms. And many “adopted” kids he considered his own. David was affectionally known as “Daddy”, “Papaw Buddy”, “Poppa”, and “Pops” because of his extreme ability to show his love for all those he came in contact with, no matter where he went. He was an avid fan of Sprint Car Racing, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and a true Texas Rangers fan. He will be missed dearly on this earth by his family and friends. He is now rejoicing in Heaven with his family that went before him and will be waiting at the gates of Heaven to greet each one of you again. “Walk outside, Be quite, Be still, Look, and Listen, and you will know that GOD is real”. “Look to the Moon” and you will know that I, (Daddy), am with you. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday, May 19th at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, May 20th, at 2:30 pm The Memorial Chapel 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243 Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
