Dr. Whiting was a mentor to me early in my career as a Dermatologist interested in hair loss. He was the first to describe Chronic Telogen Effluvium among his many other accomplishments. He always had a smile and time to talk to a young Doctor interested in hair. He also had a great way of explaining things, especially why some people thought of hair issues in a different way, and why they were sometimes wrong! I loved that about him and enjoyed his antics and lectures. He was someone I always liked to chat with at meetings as he was unpretentious while also being a leading authority. He will be sorely missed by me as well as by the academic community. God bless you, Dr. Whiting!
