The loss of David Wicker will be felt by family, friends, and the earthly Kingdom of God for decades to come. The entire Wicker family has been a profound blessing to Kristi and me for almost 50 years. Helen was like a second mother to us and her sweet gift of hospitality and warmth has greatly enriched our lives. David's strong, steadfast faithfulness to the Lord and His Church has been and will be the very benchmark of service on into the future and to eternity. Carolyn, Judy, Jim, Jay, and the entire Wicker family are in our hearts and prayers that the Lord will uphold you with His Presence, Power, Comfort, and Love in the days ahead.

David was one of the most kind and generous men I had the privilege of knowing. He was a help to just about anyone who asked him for aid in any capacity. I met him when his son, John, and I were roommates at Baylor. He, and wife Carolyn, didn't know me at all, except that I was John's roommate, yet they took me in as if I were one of the relatives. I remember at a ceremony honoring his work, he said that his favorite Bible verse was, "That which you have done to the least of these, you have done unto me." I never forgot that. He was indeed, one of the "good guys."
We could sure use more of them.

David had such a heart for the Lord, for His people, and for the lost. His love and support for my family through the years has been such an encouragement. With humility & love he opened his home to us many, many times including hosting a dinner for our wedding party & family on May 31, 1986. David & Carolyn were such a great example of commitment in marriage - we always looked forward to seeing them at FBCD or in their home when we were back in the states. Their unwavering prayer & financial support to God's work around the world - particularly through the IMB - was a immeasurable blessing to us!
