We will all miss the big guy! And I assume we all have some stories many of which are not appropriate for this situation! So I am going to simply put some partial stories out there that if we see each other, I will finish them for you!
I lived with David for a few years in Austin with John Norris. As you can imagine with those two guys, there was never a dull moment.
# 1 , promising Jeff Smith that he would be at his party,
#2 “Paying” to see Dr. J. play basketball in Houston
#3 kicking the soccer balls with and at, messing with his Nigerian UT track teammate and friend, John Akele
#4- “classy good night send off” to my Burger King girlfriend late at night with John Norris,
#5 “Sharing” drink stir sticks with Doris at the Spinners concert in Houston.

We will miss him….and already do. The nicest, most loyal and giving friend one can imagine. Love you Veedaman….Bobby
David was a very good friend and I will miss him a lot. He was always there for you, even when you didn't need anything. I wish I had kept in touch with him better than I did. Loved being around him, he just made you feel good about yourself. prayers for support to Donna and David's family. We all lost a great friend. Blessings.
I was lucky enough to know David for over 53 years, but I was counting on many more, and I will greatly miss him. The first generation of my friendship with David was as a classmate at HP. We were both on the winning Gold Raiders Football team (he was #88) coached by Mike Sorrells, and then through many years of sports and activities, too numerous to list here. He was always the better Athlete. I do remember, vividly, attending the Key Club Convention where the Keynote performer was Cher in her prime and in her fishnet body suit! Many more experiences including his yellow jet boat and trips to Mr Bishops farm in Blue Ridge, even an encounter or two with the UP Police near their house on Haynie. After we went our seperate ways for a while, we reconnected in business in 1988 as I had a printing company and it was natural to mate up with Wildman Art Framing on a ton of projects. David would take on anything. He would always tell me " Hoddy let me take a look at that one. I've got a guy . . ." David always had a connection, always "had a guy" and was always willing to share. Some of the guys he connected me to became part of business support for many years. We also benefitted from having his future daughter in law work for us before a couple of years. David was not just a talker and networker. If you walked through his company, through the customer area all the way back to the warehouse, it was immaculate and organized all the time. And that is the way he did business. We worked together this way for over 35 years and he came to know my business team as well as I did. David always treated me in a way that seemed to give me more positive credit than I felt I had earned. That was the way he was. His support of Donna and family was this and much more. I will miss David a lot. My only regret is that the last time he asked me "When are we going to go get a Margharita and some enchiladas?" that I didn't say "Lets go right now"
David is one of a kind, and gone much too soon. I will miss him. HP
My son‘s Will, Max and I met David and Donna in Colorado a few summers back. We immediately made friends with them and they were so kind to me and my kids. David and my son Max got along famously talking about sports, and then proceeded to talk a lot of trash as Max decided to take on Donna and Lisa in Pickleball. David’s smile, gentleness, and general generosity towards me and my boys. I was one of the things that made our vacation maybe the best we’ve ever taken. We continue to stay in touch back in Dallas and I am grateful to have met him and Donna. He even took my boys for rides on the forklift when we came to visit them at the framing company. We will never forget David!
