Dawn Denny's Obituary
Denny, Dawn Sherburne was born on January 15, 1933 in Weston, Massachusetts and passed away on April 27, 2016. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents Oliver Nathan Sherburne and Katherine Eleanor Sherburne, and sister Carol Crowe. Dawn is survived by her loving husband, William P. Denny, and two sons William Michael Denny and Dr. Mark Sherburne Denny and wife Kathleen. Also by her grandchildren Dr. Sarah Robinson with husband Dr. Sam Robinson and children Reese and Max, Megan Solis with husband Dr. Michael Solis, and Laura Denny. Dawn graduated as valedictorian of C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA in 1950. She went on to graduate with honors from Louisiana State University in 1954, where she was the president of the Phi Gamma chapter of Chi Omega. Dawn married the love of her life, Bill, on January 23, 1955 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Shreveport. She taught 7th grade math at West Junior High in Richardson, Texas for twenty-four years. Her favorite activities were gardening, quilting, needlepoint, antiquing, playing games, and square dancing with Steeple Steppers Square Dance Club. A memorial service will be held on May 6 at 11 AM at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Ave, Dallas, TX 75204, where Dawn and Bill were members for 51 years, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Dawn’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011 or www.alz.org. The Denny family would like to thank the staff of Grand Brook Memory Care for their exceptional and loving care of Dawn over the past 5 years.
