Debbie Layne Bassett's Obituary
Debbie Layne Bassett of McKinney, Texas gained everlasting life as promised by Our Father in Heaven Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the age of 58 years.
Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her son Warren Bassett and wife Mary, grandson James Bassett, father Roosevelt Salters, siblings: William Carr, Sherrie Clarke, Gerald Salters, and Rodney Salters; aunts Earline Campbell (John) and LaDelle Adams (Joe); nieces Chloe and Stephania; nephews Jason and Dominic; and her dearly loved companion Richard Windham.
Debbie joins her beloved mother Rhudine Salters in eternal life.
Our sister-in-Christ was born February 2, 1963 in Greenville, South Carolina, but spent most of her life in Texas. Even before graduating from Clemens High School, Debbie showed she had a heart to serve others. During her youth, she spent a summer learning American Sign Language so she could better communicate with the children in her swim classes.
Her gracious spirit was not fleeting. Our beloved Debbie later took a job at Autumn Winds Living & Rehabilitation in Schertz caring for patients with generosity before moving on to the medical research field, wherein she found her passion. Debbie dedicated more than 25 years to this field. She held her most recent position as Associate Director of Global Clinical Operations at Abbott in Dallas until her passing.
Along with her passion for helping others, Debbie lived unapologetically, working her way to success while raising her cherished son. She loved to travel and enjoyed vacations with her loved ones. Debbie was enthusiastic about maintaining fitness and a healthy lifestyle. But her biggest achievement by far was the faith in which she walked daily and how she inspired those around her.
Debbie attended church in Dallas but found a purpose and a place in the Grace Community Church in Marion, North Carolina. Pastor Jerry Lewis and his wife Wendy became extended family to Debbie.
A service to celebrate and honor Debbie’s life as a faithful servant to our God will be held Saturday, November 20, 2 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
