Deborah "Debbie" Ferris' Obituary
Debbie Ferris, born on October 14, 1948, left this world on January 10, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Gary Ferris, who shared a lifetime of cherished memories with her. She also leaves behind her brother David Marshall and his wife, Terri, along with three nephews. Additionally, she is remembered by her five great nephews and three great nieces. Debbie’s parents, Charley J. Marshall and Mora Lou Marshall preceded her in death. It’s evident Debbie's love and warmth touched the lives of many who loved her and had the privilege of knowing her.
Debbie's laughter was contagious, and her big smile could light up a room. She had a zest for life that manifested in her love for travel and adventure. She, alongside a group of close friends known as the "FAARPS" (Future American Association of Retired Persons), took many trips together over the years. Despite not being retired when they formed the group, they eventually embraced their retirement years. Debbie was the FAARPS organizer who decided where they were going, when they were going and how long they were going to be gone. Their trips had to eventually end, but the wonderful memories of their time together will live on for those Debbie left behind.
In the quieter moments of her retirement, Debbie found joy in accompanying her husband Gary on his business deliveries for Ferris Lighting. Their shared experiences created a unique bond that added a special chapter to their enduring love story. The couple frequented favorite restaurants like Paradise Bakery, In and Out Burger, Chick-Fil-A, and Fish City Grille in Dallas, where the staff became like an extended family.
Debbie had a heart for nature, evident in the care she extended to the squirrels and birds on her patio. Over 37 years ago, a turtle she named Pedro found a home there where he became part of her family. Her love knew no bounds, whether directed towards her friends, family, or the creatures that shared her space.
Above all, Debbie's devotion was unwavering when it came to Gary. She took pride in ensuring his well-being in a way that only she could. Their love story was a testament to a bond that withstood the tests of time, creating a foundation of love and companionship that will be remembered fondly by all who knew them.
Debbie Ferris will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have shared in her love, laughter, and unique spirit. In celebrating her life, we honor a woman whose impact will echo through the many lives she touched.
