Debra Dixon's Obituary
Debbie Kay Dixon, 60, of Richardson, Texas, beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, godmother, and grandmother died peacefully on August 3, 2015. She passed away at her home with her family by her side. Born May 17, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas, Debbie graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1973 and went on to earn her bachelors from Southwestern University in 1976. Later, she received her Masters degree from Amberton University in Counseling. Debbie continued to further her professional career by becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Registered Play Therapist. Debbie had a lifelong passion for helping children, and followed her calling by working 20 years in the Wylie ISD as a Special Ed teacher, Behavioral Adjustment Unit teacher and then as a school counselor. She was also very proud to have done her counseling internship at the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center. After Debbie retired from Wylie ISD, she focused on her private counseling practice where she helped many people through their journey of healing and growth. She also supervised many new counselors as they entered the profession. When she was not working and trying to better those around her, she made it a life goal to travel the world with her husband Jim and to find the most secluded, beautiful beaches. Debbie was a believer in Christ and valued love, grace, unconditional love and family. One of her proudest roles was being grandmother to Kaleb, Brayden, Ava and Lucy. Debbie was preceded in death by her father Lewis Eidson, brother Kendall Eidson and sister Gina Eidson Schreiber. Debbie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jim Dixon, daughter Keri Boswell, son Brent Dixon, daughter-in-law Renee Dixon, her mother Mary John Eidson, sister Sherry Jenkins, brother Mike Eidson, grandchildren Kaleb Boswell, Brayden Boswell, Ava Dixon and Lucy Dixon. The family wishes to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. After fighting a viscous 2 plus year fight, Debbie won her battle with cancer and is now resting in the arms of her Savior. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 6:00-8:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Waterbrook Bible Fellowship 507 Thomas St in Wylie, TX 75098 at 2pm Thursday August 6, 2015. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
