I met Anne my freshman year at University of Dallas, in Catherine Dorm. Anne was so very intelligent, hilarious, artistic and was my tour guide of Dallas. She was so fun to be with, and I loved riding along with her, and learn all about Dallas. She knew a lot about clothes designers, and if we went to Neiman Marcus, Northpark Mall, or any mall, she was able to sensibly critique the latest designs. Up and down Northwest highway, Lovers Lane, Highland Park, Deep Ellum , she knew everything about Dallas. She was D Magazine in real time! I loved her artistic expressions, her distinctive penmanship, the love of green, Diva, the way she decorated her dorm room and then, her dorm room door was a living art mural, with a splash of Village Voice articles/ editorials thrown in for good contrary measure. Mind you, this was pre internet, when self expression for college students was showcased on our dorm room doors. We had so many silly, harmless, outrageous escapades, as she did with all of her friends and David. She could make anyone belly laugh. I learned a lot about art from Anne, for instance, the first time I learned about Frida Kahlo was from Anne. I learned about new / old music as well. There was one indie band, called Drivin N Cryin, that she told me about. She somehow incorporated an Irish accent when she would say their name, and then it morphed into a goofy, nonsensical ( yet meaningful and true) funny saying she would say to me when I was feeling down … she would exclaim, in this deep exaggerated Irish accent……. “ Stop Drivvvin n’ Cryinnn’ … it’ll only make yeee sad” 😢 . How incredible and inspiring her post, with her saying this exact saying showed up on my Facebook memory today. It is surreal. 😪All of my love to you David and to your family and her family. I will FOREVER cherish all of the beauty she gave to everyone. ~ 🍀
