With profound respect, we commemorate the life and legacy of Deh-Chyh Swei (April 19, 1937 – December 1, 2024), an intelligent, frugal, and hardworking father who will be missed.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Deh-Chyh began his career in his early career as a waiter, then chef, and ultimately worked his way up to owning 4 successful restaurants in Seoul. His passion for cooking and hard work was evident in his success.
In 1962 Deh-Chyh married Shoow Jiuan, his loving wife of 62 years. Together, they raised three children and eleven grandchildren.
In 1985 Deh-Chyh and his wife made the difficult decision to move themselves and their children from South Korea to the United States. Deh-Chyh sacrificed a comfortable life in South Korea to give his children better opportunities.
Deh-Chyh had a lifelong passion for history, spending countless hours collecting newspaper articles and delving into the past. His extensive collection was a testament to his dedication and curiosity, often sharing fascinating stories and insights with those around him.
Deh-Chyh was also known for his keen eye for bargains. He found joy in the simple pleasure of shopping, always on the lookout for the best deals. His enthusiasm for finding treasures in unexpected places brought smiles to many and was a reflection of his resourceful nature.
Deh Chyh's faith was the cornerstone of his life. A devout Christian, he was an active member of his church community, attending services every week as long as his health would allow him.
Deh-Chyh is survived by his wife, his three children, and his eleven grandchildren
