Della Faye Nelson's Obituary
Della Nelson passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026 at the age of 96. She was born in Garland, TX on September 5, 1929 to Vida Pelton McIntire and Dillard McIntire. She married the love of her life John William Nelson (JW) on 12 July 1946.
Della’s spirit of love and caring knew no limits, she cared for JW at home for 11 years after he developed Parkinson’s. She treated everyone with kindness and was a people person. She and JW loved to travel and while traveling around the world she found great joy in picking up treasures along the way.
But above all else, Della’s greatest joy and source of pride was her role as Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Her love knew no bounds and she poured her heart and soul into nurturing her family and creating a beautiful home filled with love, laughter and warmth.
She was preceded in death by her husband JW Nelson, Sister Ida Morrow and Brother Leonard McIntire.
She is survived by her son Mike Nelson and his wife Pam, her daughter Vicki Gilbreath and husband Terry, Grandchildren – Melanie Monsey, Kim Young, Greg Nelson and Scott Nelson. Great Grandchildren – Sabrena Drake, Lester Monsey, Brandon Monsey, Presley Young, Brooklyn Rhea, Reese & Sloan Nelson, and Great Great Grandchild Warren Monsey.
May her spirit continue to shine brightly, guiding us with warmth and love. Rest in peace, you will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
