Deloris Lyvonne Mornes Walter's Obituary
Deloris Lyvonne (Mornes) Walter, and her twin sister Doris Lashonne (Mornes) Brown, were born in Decatur, Texas to Minnie Lee and Willie George Mornes on May 30, 1959. When the twins were only three months old, their beloved mother passed away, leaving their grandmother, Tebora Lee Hurd, to raise the twins along with her other children and grandchildren. Growing up, Deloris was known as “Tweety” and her twin, Doris was known as “P-Nut”. Deloris graduated from Denton High School in 1977, where she excelled at band (clarinet) and sports. Deloris then attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where she would meet her future husband, Ken Walter. The couple would eventually move to Richardson, Texas, where they raised their three children, Kandace, Kimberlee, and Kenneth Jr. Deloris was an amazing mother who constantly encouraged her children to reach for the stars.
Deloris never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. She was known for her fabulous smile, engaging personality, listening ear, singing voice, and sense of style for clothing, jewelry and home decor. Deloris also spent several years singing in a chorus and later an R&B cover band.
Deloris was very faithful and spiritual. She spent her days praying and listening to her favorite gospel songs. During the 2020 pandemic, Deloris became a grandmother and chose “GiGi” as her nickname. She cherished every moment spent with her precious granddaughter, Cairo.
The family is comforted knowing that Deloris was happy, content, peaceful and loved when she left this earth to be with the Lord and her twin sister.
Deloris is survived by her children, Kandace, Kimberlee, Kenneth Jr., one granddaughter Cairo, her beloved nieces, Amelia Mornes Njoku (Prince), Taymisha Kelley Gutlery (Ronald), her sisters, Stephanie Mornes Thomas (Andrew), Janice Silmon, brothers Leonard Charles Morne and Willie George Mornes, Jr., aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of other friends and family.
