Delroy Greggs' Obituary
Delroy Greggs was born on August 25, 1930 to the parentage of Connie Mae Johnson Greggs and Nathaniel Greggs in Quitman, Wood County, Texas. He was raised on a farm by his maternal grandparents, Mary Berry Johnson and Monroe Johnson. He received his formal education in Quitman, Texas and graduated in 1947 from W.B. Clark High School. In 1951 he graduated from Prairie View A & M with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. He began his career serving several years as a County Extension Agent in Shelby County, Texas. He then taught agriculture to secondary school students in Detroit, Texas. He went on to serve for 25 years as a federal meat inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1990. Thereafter, he diligently worked as business manager and bookkeeper for his daughter’s medical practice until his health failed in November of 2016. On March 29, 1956, Delroy married Annie Ruth Duke. To this union, three children were born; a daughter and two sons, twins Sharon Elaine and Byron Wayne, and Morris Tracey. Delroy was a family man and he loved the Lord. He was an excellent provider and was a faithful servant in Christ. Delroy was a devoted member of the Greenville Avenue Church of Christ for many years. Both parents preceded Delroy in death, as did his brother Willie Morris Greggs and his sister Mary Dan Greggs Harris. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, wife Annie Ruth; daughter Dr. Sharon Greggs, sons Byron Greggs and Morris Greggs; grandson Essirifi Monroe Sackeyfio, and son-in-law Stanley Sackeyfio. He also leaves to mourn numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. After 86 years of blessings God, in His infinite wisdom, called Brother Greggs to his heavenly home on May 23, 2017. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, May 26, 2017 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Greenville Avenue Church of Christ. Entombment immediately following at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
