Delvenia Chick's Obituary
Chick, Delvenia Ponder Born September 1, 1923 in Grapevine, TX. She departed this life on October 12, 2009 at Serenity House in Tyler, TX. She graduated from James Bowie in Sims, TX in 1939. She was Employed by Red River Arsenal as an ambulance driver during World War II. From there, she went to Draughns Business School in Dallas, TX. Upon graduation, she began a career with Braniff Airlines that spanned a period of 37 years. She worked as a purchasing agent and traveled extensively. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Sophia Rebecca Ponder; her son, Kenneth Leslie Chick; her husband Lee Barlow and her husband of 61 years, Robert Leslie Chick. She is survived by two children: daughter, Joyce Jenkins Sullivan and her husband, Richard; son, Robert Stanley Chick and his wife, Deborah; 5 grandchildren: Kym Rucker, Candice Dawn Davis, Kelly Moran, Chase Chick and Travis Cole Chick; great grandchildren: Robert Brett Rucker, Keagan Moran, Taylor Moran, Taylor Davis, Seth Davis and Justin Davis. Visitation will be from 5:00PM to 8:00PM, Wednesday at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM, at First United Methodist Church in Dallas, 1.928 Ross Avenue with Rev Jordan Gary and Tom Downing officiating. Pall bearers will be: Jerry Barlow, Wayne Gary, Rollin Gary, Chase Chick. Travis Chick and Danny Moran. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dallas, TX. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the people at Reunion Plaza and Serenity House Hospice of Tyler, TX for their care and kindness during their time of need and transition.
