Dennis Lester Gross' Obituary
Dennis L. Gross was called home to heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 12, 2025. He was born on November 2, 1944 to Lester Gross and Paula Gross (Steinbach) of Iron Ridge, Wisconsin and was brought to faith through the water and Word of Holy Baptism on November 23, 1944. He grew up in a dairy-land area of Dodge County, Wisconsin and worked on his uncles’ farms during summer months. After receiving a BSEE degree (minor in electronics) from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) he went to work for Motorola in Chicago, Illinois for five years. His service at Motorola was interrupted for two years by a draft notice from the US Army.
While serving in the US Army Nuclear Defense Lab from 1967 to 1969 he attended a new, WELS mission church, Atonement Lutheran Church, in Towson (Baltimore), Maryland. He met his wife, Sandy, via contacts from the church when he returned to the east coast for a summer vacation in 1970. They were married on November 19, 1971 in the newly constructed sanctuary at Atonement.
After their engagement Dennis left Motorola in July 1971 and accepted a job with MCI Telecommunications (now Verizon Communications) in Washington, DC. Six years later he took a transfer offer to move to Garland, Texas. Upon moving to Garland, the family joined Calvary Lutheran Church in Dallas and were thankful for the opportunity to send their children to Calvary’s Lutheran Elementary School. In 1980 he joined Spectrum Planning, Inc for five years and then accepted a job in 1985 with PrimeCo Communications (later named Verizon Wireless) to develop a wireless phone network in the DFW area and northern Texas. Later in his career he did microwave radio systems contract work for Alcatel in Plano, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father Lester Gross, mother Paula Seefeldt, and his sister Doris Walter.
He is survived by his wife Sandy Gross, and children Debbie Pringle (Alan), Daniel Gross (Susan), Scott Gross, and grandchildren Tyler and Mason Pringle.
