Denny Hill's Obituary
Denny was born in Houston, TX but his family moved between Houston and Dallas several times as he was growing up. He attended Highland Park High School, in Dallas, for one year before moving back to Houston. Denny graduated from Lamar High School and attended Louisiana State University where he graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. In 1961, he married Claudia Sturges. He worked in the refractories department of Babcock & Wilcox from 1963 to 1980. He started his own company, Hi Temp Systems, in 1980. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and served as President for one year. For three years he was the first baseman for the LSU baseball team. Denny was a member of the Southwest Section of the American Ceramic Society where he served as President for one year. He received the Harry E. Ebright award for his contribution to the Ceramic Industry. Denny loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed his home, Hill’s Haven, at Lake Ouachita. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claudia; his daughter, Kelly and her husband, GW Holt; his son, Kevin and his wife, Caroline; Brandi Thompson, a niece who was like another daughter to him and her three girls who were like his own grandchildren; his four grandchildren, Trey Holt, Joanna Hill, Allison Holt and Marissa Hill; numerous nieces and nephews, sisters in law and spouses, an aunt and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe A. Hill, His mother, Dorris Hill and his brother, Danny Hill and wife, Carolyn.
