I served with Derek and know his whole story and talked to him daily before his death, I was his senior Marine and he talked to me about everything. To this day I feel responsible. If anyone knows his parents have them contact me, I live in TX and want to meet them. Have them email me please.
Came across your sons obituary online and it caught my attention for obvious reasons. My family has a very long heritage of military service to this country and we are very sorry for your loss.

I just heard about the tragic news. I was friends with Derek in high school, and will deeply miss his presence here with us. I know he is in Heaven now, though. My deepest condolences go out to Mr. Box's family. May God be with you during this hard time.
Angie and family, I'm sorry for your loss. Words can not express how sorry we are. I hope you find comfort and strength in your friends and family. Its been many years since I have seen you guys but I still speak of all of you regularly. The trips to the farm are memories that I will never forget.
