Diane Lee Grimes' Obituary
Diane Lee Grimes, 81, of Garland, TX passed away peacefully with her family by her side and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 3, 2023. She was born on August 2, 1942 to Beulah Sue (Moton) and Alton Thomas Stovall in Columbus, Ohio. Diane grew up in Baltimore, Maryland with her parents and brother Thomas R. Stovall. She was a graduate of San Lorenzo Valley High School in San Lorenzo Valley, CA and attended Strayer Business College in Washington D.C.
On a visit to Texas, she met her husband William Osce Grimes, Jr. at the First United Methodist Church downtown Dallas. She needed a ride and he volunteered. The rest is history! William and Diane were married on August 22, 1964 for 59 years and resided in Garland, Texas.
Diane had an incredible talent for cooking which was her passion! She cooked anything you ever wanted from dinner to dessert. She was very independent and loved to travel. One of her favorite places to visit was Ocean City, Maryland. She had a love for the beach! Diane had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. She loved her family dearly.
She was an amazing mother, sister, wife and grandmother known by her grandchildren as “Nanny” and will be dearly missed by all. Diane is survived by her husband William Osce Grimes, Jr. Daughters Carolyn Minor (Billy) and Linda Wynn (Randy), Grandchildren: Christopher Minor (Hillary), Melinda Minor, Brian Minor, and Dale Wynn. Great Grandchild: Alton Christopher Minor. As well as her beloved family - cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A celebration of Life will be held in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home of Dallas Friday December 15, 2023 at 3pm. Followed by internment at Restland Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
