Dianna "Stella" J. Finger's Obituary
Stella Finger (Wilson)
6/23/1954 – 9/30/2022
Stella was born Dianna to Ruby and Francis Wilson in Denison, Texas. Growing up, she practiced in drill and baton, competing and sometimes winning. Attending Denison High School, she adopted “Stella” as her name and became the first girl drummer in the marching band.
After graduating, Stella married a musician, Michael Finger, and they travelled with his band. Eventually, they settled in Dallas and raised two children, Ashley and Eric. Stella was active in their schools and the Lutheran church. She studied teaching, focusing on pre-school and special needs children. She found her calling, working with preschoolers.
Later, life happened and Stella and Michael went their separate ways. She opened her own pre-school, Baby Steps Early Learning Center in 2004 and nurtured her little friends into 2020 when the pandemic forced the closing of her school.
Stella loved babies and those who cared for them. She loved art and artists, music and musicians. She loved holidays. Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and especially Christmas all brought her joy. She enjoyed hanging out with friends and listening to music.
Stella is survived by her children Ashley Finger and Eric Finger and her longtime partner, Jeff Shaw
She passed peacefully in her home on September 30th.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that a donation be made to Scottish Rite for Children or other charities benefitting the children.
