Dolores Jane McGinnis' Obituary
McGinnis, Dolores was called home to heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after her short battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at her home in Fairview, Texas on October 2, 2013. Dolores’ rich legacy will live on through her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bob McGinnis; children, Mike and wife, Janis, Kevin and wife, Brenda, Erin Nelson and husband, Rob, and Beth Higgins and husband, Tim; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dolores was active in her community serving as a volunteer in many organizations. Over the years she participated in her community’s Bridge Club, Scouting Garden Club, Bible Study Fellowship, Welcome Wagon, and the Carrollton Women’s Club. She was an avid reader, fabulous cook, enjoyed traveling, never met a stranger, and loved hosting family and friends, old and new, in her home. Dolores took pride in her years working at the Dallas Apparel Mart and as the senior pastor’s secretary at Tyler Street United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Carrollton. As much as her family and friends miss her presence here on Earth, we rejoice greatly in her entrance into her eternal home with Jesus and know there was a great celebration at her arrival. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Services to celebrate Dolores’ life will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Restland Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brad Howard, Officiating.
