Domingo Pena Rios' Obituary
Domingo P. Rios, 83, passed away on December 12, 2010. Born in Runge, TX on February 20, 1927, he was the eldest son of Luis & Maria Rios. Domingo P. Rios lived in Alice, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, Dallas, TX and settled in Arlington, TX before his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s in 2006. He severed our country in the Air Force and is a World War II & Korean War Veteran. He attended Del Mar College for a short while before having to jump into the workforce. In his early years he worked as a Small Business Loan Manager in Corpus Christi. In Dallas, he worked and retired from LTV Aerospace and Defense Co. where he started as a Machinist and retired as a Managing Supervisor. During his lifetime he volunteered his time to politics. He was a member and served on the board of the following organizations: The Mexican American Democrats of Texas, LULAC, La Voz del Anciano, UAW, and others. He helped on many campaigns from local to national, was a delegate at our States’ conventions, volunteered with voter registration, and helped raised money for numerous scholarships. He was a pillar in our community, always looking to serve and help others. Domingo is preceded in death by his son, Adan G. Rios, grandson, Angel Rios, his brother, Martin and his sister Inez. He is survived by his sons, Domingo Jr. & his wife Estella, Ruben, and Richard; his daughters, Patricia and Cynthia; his daughter in-law, Kazuko T. Rios; his brothers, Jose, Heladio, Ramon, and Luis Jr.; his sister, Mary Rivas, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and trusted friend to all. No words can express our gratitude to Marylou and Robert Fabian, his caregivers, who opened their hearts and home during Domingo’s last months with us.Arrangements are with Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. His visitation will be on Wednesday from 10am to 8pm. The Rosary will be Thursday at 7pm at Memorial Chapel and Mass will be Friday at 10am at Wildwood Chapel, located at the funeral home.A funeral precession and burial ceremony will follow on Friday after Mass to the Dallas Fort-Worth National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Pky., Dallas, TX 75211.
