Don and Ava were steadfastly devoted to one another, and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in April, 2025. The couple remained in Dallas for 60 years of marriage until 2023, when they moved to be closer to their daughter, Diane, in Cedar Park, Texas.
Don was a proud US Postal Service employee, retiring after nearly 40 years of service. One of his favorite jobs as a younger man, was working for the Motion Picture Theatre Film Service in Dallas, Texas.
Don was a classic car enthusiast and loved working on his own cars. He was a lover of art, and was especially proud of his family’s original paintings. His favorite taste in music was opera, but he also loved 50s rock and roll, classic country, blues, and anything recommended by his brother Steve.
Don spoke fondly of visiting his grandmother and other family members in Duck Hill, MS, as a child. He loved the New Orleans area, and enjoyed an extensive post card collection with scenes from the region. Don loved to read books on philosophy and history.
Don will be missed by his family, especially his wife, Ava, with whom he was practically inseparable.
