Don Preston McCormack's Obituary
Don Preston McCormack was born on February 22, 1952, in Dallas, Texas to Carl and Beth McCormack. Don gained his angel wings on September 24, 2015, at the age of 63, in Dallas, Texas after a valiant, year-long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loving family at the time of his going home. Don was preceded in death by father, Carl McCormack and niece, Charlotte McCormack. He is survived by his loving wife, Kyla Kirby McCormack; daughter, Jillian McCormack Sandoval; sons, Kirby Preston McCormack and Baylee James McCormack; mother and step-father, Beth and Ron Klemm; brother and wife, Carl and Terry McCormack; sister and husband, Jeanean and Larry Slonaker; mother-in-law, Mavonee Kirby; sisters-in-law and husbands, Debbie and Eddie Lindsey, Dana and Barry Lindsey, Donna McKinley, Mikki and Eric Silverman; brother-in-law and wife, Steve and Glenna Harris; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; large extended family and many, many friends. Don grew up in Richardson, Texas and graduated from Richardson High School in 1970. He started his career in the electrical trades in Dallas and later moved to Longview, Texas where he earned and maintained his Master Electrician’s license. Don was a dedicated, hard-working man, owning his own business in Longview for 19 years. He worked for multiple municipalities and was highly regarded in his field. Most recently, Don worked for RLC Controls in McKinney, Texas as a Project Manager. Don was a loving and fiercely dedicated husband, father, son, brother and friend. He openly shared his faith and love for our Heavenly Father at every opportunity. For nine years, Don served as elder and board member at Longview Metro Church prior to moving to McKinney in 2012. At the time of Don’s passing, he resided in Anna, Texas where he and his family attended The Crossroads Community Church. He cherished spending quality time with family, and enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. Don will be laid to rest at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm at Restland Wildwood Chapel. The service will be at 12:30pm, with interment following.
