Dona Mae Kirk Patterson's Obituary
Dona Mae Kirk Patterson went to her “home home” on Monday May 9, 2022 at her home in Georgetown, Texas with her son by her side. She was born on January 7, 1925 to Guy Stanley and Louise (Glenn) Kirk in Arkansas City, Kansas. Dona was a child of the Great Depression and it taught her the most important thing is to love and follow our Lord and Savior, second, the value of the dollar, and lastly it showed her the value of a family’s love and strength working together. She had a great love for animals, especially horses and dogs and all through out her life she always had dogs for pets and loved them like a mother. Even when she was a mother herself her children had their dogs. The family know that when she went to heaven all of the dogs met her and went over the Rainbow Bridge together to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is one dog, Brookfield, who was the only dog not allowed on the furniture will be having a talk with her about that since Dona’s last dog, Bear, has a ramp for him to get into the bed.
After graduating from high school she attended Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) in the fall of 1943 and majored in bacteriology and earned a degree as a Med Tech in 1947 and worked as a med
tech in Oklahoma City. In the fall of 1946 she met the love of her life, BJ Patterson, their first date was to go see a prized steer named Royal Jupiter. Dona and BJ were married on September 5, 1948 in Arkansas City and were married for 70 years until his death in 2019. She said she only needed one more year and she would have been able to mold him to where she wanted him to be. With this union two children were born, their daughter Candace and son Kevin. Because of her husband’s job the family moved all over the United States and with each move Dona was able to make a beautiful and loving home centered around her faith.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband BJ, her parents and her uncle Donald Glenn who was more like a big brother to her. Dona is survived by her daughter, Candace Blair, son Kevin Patterson and
her grandsons, Geoff and his wife Devin Blair and Graeme Blair. Also numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends. Finally her son says in Greek, Agape mama Agape
